My wife has gone away for training and a convention for work.

Today is day 2 of me being the only parent in the house. NBD.

Everyone seems very concerned for me. Our daycare asked me if I was ok and everything was alright. My inlaws offered to watch the kids if I ever “need a break.” I know everyone is trying to be helpful, but I’m kinda feeling insulted. Sure, I have to run around more than I did before but that tasks are not onerous and I’m not some inept buffoon of a sitcom father.

I’m predicting a week full of no sweat. I even have tomorrow off so that I can get my daughter to practice and her game. Much Zelda will be played tomorrow.

My wife doesn’t like leaving me alone for extended periods of time because I tend to turn feral pretty quickly. Last time she left me for a week by myself, she came home to me in my underwear gnawing on a 2 day old bone in my beer can fort.

And even if it was the other way around, it’s infuriating and brutally sexist to assume the dad needs a break and can’t handle the kids.

I did the same not too long ago, wife had a business trip to Florida. It was mid week so tuesday, wednesday, thursday. I normally don’t drink when she’s pregnant to make it a bit easier on her.
